DAY 1

The Professional Trainer and Adult Learning

  • Welcome and introduction
  • Pre-test
  • Defining the role and competencies of the professional workplace trainer
  • Adult Learning Theory (Andragogy): Principles for engaging adult learners
  • The four learning styles and adapting content for diversity
  • Initial presentation and critique (establishing the baseline)

 

DAY 2

Instructional Design: Analysis and Design

  • The ADDIE model introduced: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate
  • Analysis: Conducting a Training Needs Assessment (TNA)
  • Design: Writing clear, measurable learning objectives (Bloom's Taxonomy)
  • Structuring content logically and sequentially

 

DAY 3

Development and Interactive Methods

  • Development: Creating engaging, participant-centered training materials
  • Mastering various training methods: Group discussion, role-plays, simulations, case studies
  • Designing effective visual aids (slides, handouts) that support the content
  • Incorporating activities for reflection and application

 

DAY 4

Presentation, Delivery, and Facilitation

  • Mastering trainer presence: Voice, body language, and energy
  • Techniques for facilitating group discussions and managing time effectively
  • Handling challenging behaviors (dominators, silent participants, side-conversations)
  • Practicing transitions and flow within the training module

 

DAY 5

Evaluation and Final Delivery

  • Evaluation: Applying Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Evaluation (Reaction, Learning, Behavior, Results)
  • Developing an action plan for continuous improvement as a trainer
  • Final formal delivery of a prepared training module (video recorded and critiqued)
