DAY 1

Advanced Electrical Troubleshooting Fundamentals

  • Pre-test
  • Electrical system architecture: LV & MV systems
  • Common electrical faults and symptoms
  • Systematic troubleshooting approaches (5-step process, Root Cause Analysis)
  • Use of digital multimeters, clamp meters, megohmmeters, and oscilloscopes
  • Introduction to diagnostic tools: thermal cameras, insulation testers
  • Safety review: PPE, arc flash hazards, shock prevention

 

DAY 2

Electrical Drawings, Schematics & Fault Analysis

  • Interpreting complex electrical and control schematics
  • Wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and P&IDs
  • Analyzing fault trees and cause-effect matrices
  • Simulated troubleshooting exercises
  • Isolation strategies in multi-source and redundant systems

 

DAY 3

Repairs and Component-Level Troubleshooting

  • Diagnosing and replacing circuit breakers, contactors, relays, and fuses
  • Troubleshooting motors (synchronous, asynchronous, VFD-driven)
  • Control panel troubleshooting and refurbishment
  • Identifying and fixing grounding and bonding issues
  • Advanced soldering, crimping, and terminal repairs

 

DAY 4

Isolation Techniques, LOTO & Compliance

  • Electrical isolation procedures: step-by-step
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) policies and best practices
  • Risk assessments and permit-to-work systems
  • Compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEC 60364, and local regulations
  • Emergency scenarios: arc faults, electrical fires, shock response
  • Exercise

 

DAY 5

Complex Troubleshooting Scenarios & Preventive Strategies

  • Troubleshooting live scenarios
  • Diagnosing issues in PLC-controlled systems and SCADA interfaces
  • Power quality issues: harmonics, transients, voltage sags
  • Predictive maintenance tools: thermal imaging, vibration, IR
  • Case studies from real industrial environments
